I liked the characters, but wish the plot was different。

DNF。 This book was over 300 pages of pure nonsense。 And in my opinion this author probably lives her life in the exact way that she criticized and stereotyped for over 300 pages。

I was surprised that I enjoyed When Life Gives You Lululemons as much as I did。 It was sharper and more insightful than I was expecting it to be, and, for this reason, I looked forward to reading Where the Grass is Green。。。 Upon finishing it, however, I have to say that it is a lot more stereotypically "chick lit" than its predecessor。 This in itself is not a criticism。 It's not a bad book, but it's not what I'd hoped for either。 I was surprised that I enjoyed When Life Gives You Lululemons as much as I did。 It was sharper and more insightful than I was expecting it to be, and, for this reason, I looked forward to reading Where the Grass is Green。。。 Upon finishing it, however, I have to say that it is a lot more stereotypically "chick lit" than its predecessor。 This in itself is not a criticism。 It's not a bad book, but it's not what I'd hoped for either。 。。。more

I can get past the fluffy story line and the constant high-end name dropping, but I can’t get behind some of the characters’ unrealistic behaviors and motivation。 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think at a different time, I might have rated this book 4 stars, but I have to admit, being the daughter of someone who ended up in the news for a fraud-related crime, this book was hard for me to read at a time when my anxiety is already high。 Following the paths of three related women - a news anchor who is in trouble over a college admissions scandal, her sister who is struggling to find her place in the world, and the daughter who feels betrayed by her parents not believing in her ability I think at a different time, I might have rated this book 4 stars, but I have to admit, being the daughter of someone who ended up in the news for a fraud-related crime, this book was hard for me to read at a time when my anxiety is already high。 Following the paths of three related women - a news anchor who is in trouble over a college admissions scandal, her sister who is struggling to find her place in the world, and the daughter who feels betrayed by her parents not believing in her ability to get into college - this is a book that examines the questions of what success really looks like and whether happiness should play a part。 Still a well-written book - just not for me at this particular time。 。。。more

I was reluctant after seeing many bad reviews, but I liked it a lot! It was light, fluffy, and a classic chick lit vibe。。。。

Done via Audible。 Richly drawn characters。 Evoked sympathy for fictional characters even though I don’t have much for the real people in the same boat。 That’s a testament to Lauren’s talent。 Great performance by the narrator。 I’ll read or listen to anything Lauren writes。 She’s one of my favorite authors。

3。8 - An interesting take on the college admissions scandal and all the layers of drama involved with it。 Enjoyed the funny, real world elements, but the ending was horrible and made the rest of book almost pointless。

Another book that I was super excited for , but it was a little slow。 I did enjoy it though !

The title of the book and the author are what made me gravitate toward this。 I have read the Devil wears Prada literally one of my favorite books yeah can't go wrong。 But this book just fell flat for me either for the life of me just could not get into it。 I think mostly because you've seen it all over your TV screens and newspapers in it was literally just everywhere and then reading a different version of it play out in a book I just didn't feel connected to it since I already knew how it was The title of the book and the author are what made me gravitate toward this。 I have read the Devil wears Prada literally one of my favorite books yeah can't go wrong。 But this book just fell flat for me either for the life of me just could not get into it。 I think mostly because you've seen it all over your TV screens and newspapers in it was literally just everywhere and then reading a different version of it play out in a book I just didn't feel connected to it since I already knew how it was going to go basically。This book is basically about two sisters that are completely polar opposite from each other living their lives but still somewhat remaining connected and how they are twins in this。 You have the very rich sister that lives in the spotlight and has the doting family, and then you have the sister that could really give two craps about things that are going on。 Until the biggest headline of them all and one of the sisters is in a huge scandal of College bribery which as you know unless you were living under a rock was all over the actual news last summer。 While I'm all for retellings of stories this one just wasn't it for me。 I love Lauren Weisberger I love her storytelling but this one was just a mess and I hate that。 But I love the title of the book I love the music that is put throughout this book because you can literally hear it in your mind as you're reading, it's super clever to have these song names as your chapter titles brilliant on that part。 Would I recommend this book to my friends I actually would not。 And I may just be the wrong type of person reading this one as I don't live in that type of world in this and that but I'm just sad I'm sad about this oneThank you to Random House publishing and Lauren Weisberger for the ARC of this book via Net Galley 。。。more

This is a character driven novel with no major plot twists。 Instead it's a story of family ties, deception and finding your own way。 The fictional look at the college admissions scandal was really well done。 I read about the original scandal where high profile parents were paying for their child to get into prestigious colleges, and I remember the jail sentences that followed。 I like how within this novel it shows the impact it had on the child who, in this case at least, had no idea what was go This is a character driven novel with no major plot twists。 Instead it's a story of family ties, deception and finding your own way。 The fictional look at the college admissions scandal was really well done。 I read about the original scandal where high profile parents were paying for their child to get into prestigious colleges, and I remember the jail sentences that followed。 I like how within this novel it shows the impact it had on the child who, in this case at least, had no idea what was going on behind the scenes。 The characters developed really well and particularly warmed to Peyton a lot more towards the end of the book。 The author cleverly manages to make privileged and wealthy families feel relatable。 It's a light read but does have hidden depths。 It encourages the reader to appreciate what they have and to worry less about appearances and to remember we all have our own paths。 An enjoyable summer read。 。。。more

I am reviewing the audiobook。 I couldn’t get into this book as hard as I tried。 It just didn’t keep my attention and I couldn’t relate to the characters though I liked the idea of class disparity。

I received this from the publisher in exchange for an honest review。 I’m really conflicted about this book。 Although I really enjoyed parts of it, I felt like the ending was missing some information on loose ends and it was weak。 I enjoyed Lauren’s writing and the humor between Peyton and Skye and their Mom。 I also gave her a little bonus credit because she referred to a line from The Devil Wears Prada, and there’s nothing more that I love than when a creator makes a nod to their previous works。 I received this from the publisher in exchange for an honest review。 I’m really conflicted about this book。 Although I really enjoyed parts of it, I felt like the ending was missing some information on loose ends and it was weak。 I enjoyed Lauren’s writing and the humor between Peyton and Skye and their Mom。 I also gave her a little bonus credit because she referred to a line from The Devil Wears Prada, and there’s nothing more that I love than when a creator makes a nod to their previous works。 I was very invested to see how each story was going to end up but in the end one of the characters story was just completely dropped。 Her story line was a major part of this book and we just got to a point where we never heard from her again。 I also didn’t feel like the politics needed to be in this book。 The author herself describes what a horrible, terrible, stressful year she had due to loss and Covid 19。 Yet she felt the need to stick political points in throughout much of the book。 In my opinion in these times people are also going through difficult times and look to stories like these to escape the madness of everyday life。 At a time when the subject of politics is so heated, it just should have been left out。 Overall there were parts that I really enjoyed, laughed at the character banter and felt really invested in。 There were also parts that dragged on and felt very repetitive。 It was an average read for me, nothing that I would go out of my way to recommend。 。。。more

Every now and then I crave a sassy book and Lauren Weisberger’s novels have always been some of my favorites。 She’s an incredibly talented writer and I love getting lost in her witty, sharp, scandalous stories。 Sadly, this one fell flat for me。 The characters weren’t relatable, likable, or entertaining。 The premise sounded intriguing enough but it ended up being kind of a snooze fest。 Womp womp。

I read so much nonfiction and serious content, I thought this book was a great escape/beach read。 I enjoyed spending time with these characters and their stories for a not-so-serious novel about characters grappling with their choices and middle age。 Is it groundbreaking territory? No, but, I don’t need all my novels to be that type of book。

Just a fun easy read。 (Same author as The Devil Wears Prada)。 Peyton is an anchor on a top morning show in NYC - life is “perfect” (endless pressure to look young and amazing, her relationship with her teenage daughter is strained to say the least, and always being “on”)。 But all that work is paying off, her daughter will be going to an Ivy League school in the fall。 More perfection。 And then。。。。。life falls apart due to perhaps an illegal payment to maintain that perfect life。 Perfect beach read Just a fun easy read。 (Same author as The Devil Wears Prada)。 Peyton is an anchor on a top morning show in NYC - life is “perfect” (endless pressure to look young and amazing, her relationship with her teenage daughter is strained to say the least, and always being “on”)。 But all that work is paying off, her daughter will be going to an Ivy League school in the fall。 More perfection。 And then。。。。。life falls apart due to perhaps an illegal payment to maintain that perfect life。 Perfect beach read。 (3。5) 。。。more

It’s no Devil Wears Prada。 I found this very preachy and the end made me roll my eyes。 Do not recommend。

This is a parallel story to the "pay for college scandal" that just occurred。 I normally find Lauren Weisberger books witty and the stories flowy - in this case - the main character just came off as flat and self serving and the story - like reading a news report。 My least favorite of all of her books!! When I heard that Lauren Weisberger had a new novel out, I knew I had to get my hands on a copy。 Thankfully, this one did not disappoint。 It was well-written and interesting throughout, even with covering a current event that some other books have also covered。 However, it was hard to find Peyton as a sympathetic character, given the circumstances, and I wish she wasn't one of the narrators。 (I get why she was though。) I liked Skye and Max's perspectives a lot, so that balanced things out。 The s When I heard that Lauren Weisberger had a new novel out, I knew I had to get my hands on a copy。 Thankfully, this one did not disappoint。 It was well-written and interesting throughout, even with covering a current event that some other books have also covered。 However, it was hard to find Peyton as a sympathetic character, given the circumstances, and I wish she wasn't one of the narrators。 (I get why she was though。) I liked Skye and Max's perspectives a lot, so that balanced things out。 The story wrapped up a bit too neatly, but I also wanted to see Skye and Max win at something。 Overall, it makes me thankful that I have a good relationship with my kids。 Movie casting ideas:Peyton: Abbie Cornish Skye: Hannah Simone Max: Megan Charpentier Isaac: John Krasinski Gabe: Matt Passmore Nisha: Nazanin Boniadi Oliver: Milo Manheim Marcia: Jean Smart 。。。more

I absolutely loved Devil Wears Prada and The Singles Game。 There's something about LW way of trolling the rich while obviously being part of their exclusive circles。 Reading her books always feels like getting an inside peak into the posh lives of New Yorkers。What should have been a quintessential beach read, instead became a book that wore on a tad too long。 There were times I wondered what the purpose of certain scenes where。 Also, the ending didn't wrap up the storyline for each character we I absolutely loved Devil Wears Prada and The Singles Game。 There's something about LW way of trolling the rich while obviously being part of their exclusive circles。 Reading her books always feels like getting an inside peak into the posh lives of New Yorkers。What should have been a quintessential beach read, instead became a book that wore on a tad too long。 There were times I wondered what the purpose of certain scenes where。 Also, the ending didn't wrap up the storyline for each character we followed。 At least not to my liking。 All of that aside, there are some extremely funny moments in this book! A bit materialistic and name dropping bullshitty for me but the underlying story of family was nice。

I enjoyed the quick pace and the style of Lauren's writing, but I just didn't love this topic。 The college admissions scandal was still fresh in mind when I read this and I wasn't thrilled about reading another thing dealing with it。 For a light beach read, this novel had more serious issues in it than I expected。 Even though the book is still a very quick and easy read, it felt more serious than I wanted for a summer beach read。 If you were really interested in the college admission scandal, I I enjoyed the quick pace and the style of Lauren's writing, but I just didn't love this topic。 The college admissions scandal was still fresh in mind when I read this and I wasn't thrilled about reading another thing dealing with it。 For a light beach read, this novel had more serious issues in it than I expected。 Even though the book is still a very quick and easy read, it felt more serious than I wanted for a summer beach read。 If you were really interested in the college admission scandal, I would definitely recommend this book, as it gives great perspectives from all members of a family at the center of a scandal。 。。。more
